A square by the parliament with terraces all round, where politicians and civil servants sit after work. Thursday afternoons make that obvious.
The Denneweg
A street of smaller restaurants, antique shops and cafés. Quieter than the Plein and with better food.
Chinatown
Around the Wagenstraat, with Chinese, Indonesian and Vietnamese businesses. Smaller than Amsterdam’s but with a longer history.
The international population
Embassies, international courts and institutions bring residents from dozens of countries. That explains a range of cuisines a city this size would not otherwise have.
The Haagse Markt
One of the largest markets in Europe, outside the centre, four days a week. Few tourists and very low prices.
