| Lekkerbek is a company with a local service area. | |
A whole white fish fillet in batter, deep fried. The larger sibling of kibbeling.
The difference
Kibbeling are pieces; a lekkerbek is a single fillet of a hundred and fifty grams or more. Same batter, different experience: the lekkerbek stays juicier inside.
The fish
Cod, coley or haddock. A good shop states which on the board, and that is a quality signal in itself.
Why the name
Lekkerbek means someone who likes good food. The dish is named for the eater, not the fish.
With remoulade
Remoulade or ravigotte, and lemon. Garlic sauce belongs more with kibbeling; for lekkerbek, regulars take something sharper.
Where to find it
Fish stalls and shops along the coast, and snack bars inland.
