About What to eat in the Limburg hills

What to eat in the Limburg hills is a company with a local service area.

The only hilly part of the Netherlands, with Germany and Belgium within walking distance.

The three country point

At Vaals the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium meet, at the highest point of the European Netherlands. There is hospitality and it is busy.

Vlaai in every village

Every bakery has its own fillings and every village swears by its own baker. Cherry, apricot, rice, gooseberry.

Vineyards

The chalky slopes carry most Dutch vineyards. Several have tasting rooms, and restaurants list local wine by the glass.

Walking and eating

The area lives on walking tourism. Village cafés are set up for it, with vlaai, coffee and soup as fixed stops.

Belgian and German influence

Chips in beef fat, German cake, Belgian beer. The borders are so close that the offerings mix.

Where to look

Gulpen and Epen for village cafés, Vaals for the border point, the slopes for vineyards.
