The Markthal
A covered market inside a housing block, with a painted ceiling and stalls from nearly every cuisine. Touristic, but the edges deliver better than the main aisle.
The Witte de Withstraat
The nightlife street with the highest density of bars and restaurants. Modern, busy and loud, by design.
What the bombing meant
On 14 May 1940 the centre was almost entirely destroyed. No old cafés survived, which is why Rotterdam has hardly any brown cafés.
The Meent and the Oude Noorden
Just outside the core, with smaller places and lower prices. For anyone avoiding the crowds.
