Cream cake or apple pie, brought along or collected from the baker. In Limburg it is vlaai, counted in slices per head.
Treating at work
The birthday person treats, not the other way round. Cake or something savoury for the department, and it is expected.

Eetcafés and restaurants with set menus for groups. Booking for eight on a Saturday rarely works at the last minute.
