Terraces along the harbour, and fish from its own landings.<\/p>\n<h2>Beerenburg<\/h2>\n<p>The herbal bitter belongs to these ports. Skippers brought it from Amsterdam, and in Harlingen it is still an ordinary order.<\/p>\n<h2>The mudflats<\/h2>\n<p>Walks across the flats to Ameland and Schiermonnikoog leave from Holwerd and nearby. Pea soup or coffee follows, and the places there know it.<\/p>\n<h2>Eleven cities<\/h2>\n<p>Harlingen, Franeker, Dokkum and Bolsward all lie on the Elfstedentocht route. During a tour the whole coast becomes one long catering operation.<\/p>\n<h2>Dokkum<\/h2>\n<p>A small town with canals and mills, where Boniface was killed in 754.
