That came from the United States in the 1990s, not from Mexico.<\/p>\n<h2>What changed<\/h2>\n<p>From around 2015 taquer\u00edas opened using corn tortillas made from nixtamalised flour. That is a different product from the wheat wraps of the older places.<\/p>\n<h2>The tortilla<\/h2>\n<p>Real corn tortillas are smaller, thicker and tear more easily. A taco on a wheat wrap is Tex-Mex, and the difference is visible at once.<\/p>\n<h2>Salsa and heat<\/h2>\n<p>Dutch venues keep the heat low and serve salsa separately.
