The ferry
Free, behind Central Station, every few minutes. It is how most visitors arrive and it belongs to the experience.
From industry to hospitality
Shipyards and factories stood here. The NDSM yard is now a site of restaurants, studios and festivals in the old sheds.
On the IJ
Terraces looking out at the water and the skyline opposite. At sunset this is the best view in Amsterdam.
The villages
North also holds Nieuwendam, Ransdorp and Durgerdam: old village cores with their own cafés, a bike ride from the ferry.
