Last orders around nine or half past in most restaurants. Earlier in smaller towns, which reliably surprises visitors from southern Europe.

Open until two or three, later on nightlife streets. In many Dutch cities this is the only hot kitchen after midnight.
The automatiek
Coin in the hatch, croquette out. In Amsterdam and the big cities they run deep into the night.
Student cities
Groningen, Nijmegen and Utrecht have more late options than their size suggests. That comes from students rather than tourism.
