About What to eat on the Frisian Wadden coast

What to eat on the Frisian Wadden coast is a company with a local service area.

The northern coast of Friesland, with ferry ports to the islands and a rhythm of its own.

Harlingen

A harbour town with ferries to Terschelling and Vlieland. Terraces along the harbour, and fish from its own landings.

Beerenburg

The herbal bitter belongs to these ports. Skippers brought it from Amsterdam, and in Harlingen it is still an ordinary order.

The mudflats

Walks across the flats to Ameland and Schiermonnikoog leave from Holwerd and nearby. Pea soup or coffee follows, and the places there know it.

Eleven cities

Harlingen, Franeker, Dokkum and Bolsward all lie on the Elfstedentocht route. During a tour the whole coast becomes one long catering operation.

Dokkum

A small town with canals and mills, where Boniface was killed in 754. Small and quiet, with waterside terraces.

Where to look

Harlingen for the harbour, Dokkum for the town, Holwerd for the flats.
